Our History:
by Denise Chatterton, LKM Coordinator
The first Lynden Kids Market was held in September of 2008. The idea came to me when I was talking to a friend from Indiana who raved about a community wide "Kids Market" that she attended every year. ( http://kidsmarketinc.blogspot.com/) So I got to thinking. Lynden is a community full of families who have lots of unneeded, gently used children items. They could really benefit from a sale like this.
So, with this thought, a friend and myself coordinated the first sale. I came up with a name for the sale, a logo, and we went from there. We found our first consignors by posting on Craigslist, hanging up posters, and putting info in the local paper!
Since our sale in 2008, we've gone from handwriting out every tag, to an AWESOME online inventory system. The system is easy to use, and really cuts out A LOT of "busy work". We've also purchased several more "retail" racks and shelving!
The dream of Lynden Kids Market is to be able to hold the sale in a larger venue with an actual "market" feel, having several vendors selling children's items.
Our 2011 sale is going to include local vendors!! YAY! We currently have about 11 vendor tables already booked, and are VERY excited to include them in our 2011 sale!!
We feel that Lynden Kids Market has come a LONG way from our first meeting in March of 2008, but we have SO much more to achieve!! We hope you will consider being a part of our sale and help us achieve our goals!!
Thanks for checking us out!! We look forward to meeting you!!
